Shivamogga: Not ₹5 crore, even if a ₹25 crore defamation case is filed, I am ready to face it – MLA Gopalakrishna Beluru
Shivamogga: “Not ₹5 crore—let them file even a ₹25 crore defamation case if they want. I won’t be intimidated or bow down,” MLA Gopalakrishna Beluru said, throwing down an open challenge.
Responding to reporters’ questions about the defamation notice, he said that during former MLA Halappa’s tenure there was discord between the Siganduru Temple Administrative Committee and Ramappanavar. “Because of this, the then BJP government moved to bring the temple under the Muzrai Department,” he said.
“At that time, Halappa did not raise any objection. His silence amounted to consent. That is why I have questioned this issue publicly,” Gopalakrishna Beluru clarified.
He made it clear that he would not indulge in politics over the Siganduru Temple issue. “Our family has been visiting the abode of Goddess Siganduru for generations. I am a devotee of Siganduru Devi. I am not on the side of any administrative committee or priests. I stand only for the Siganduru Temple,” he said.
Questioning how appropriate it is to openly threaten a ₹5 crore defamation suit without any solid evidence, he added, “Not ₹5 crore—even if they file a ₹25 crore case, I am not afraid. I am ready to face it in court.”
