Mumbai Hotels Face Shutdown Amid LPG Shortage Linked to Global Conflict

Mumbai | March 11, 2026:
Mumbai is witnessing an unprecedented disruption in the hospitality sector as around 20% of hotels have reportedly shut down operations due to a shortage of commercial LPG cylinders. The crisis is being attributed to the ongoing Iran–Israel–US conflict, which has severely impacted global fuel supply chains and LPG distribution.

Hotel associations in the city have raised concerns that if the LPG supply is not restored promptly, up to 50% of hotels could be forced to close in the coming days. This would create a major crisis affecting daily operations, employees, and patrons, particularly impacting small and mid-sized hotels that rely heavily on commercial gas for cooking.

Officials warn that the disruption could have far-reaching consequences for Mumbai’s hospitality sector, which serves millions of locals and tourists daily. Hotel owners have urged authorities to ensure swift resumption of LPG supplies to prevent further economic losses and service interruptions.
