Commercial LPG Supply Disruption Threatens Hotel Operations in Bengaluru

Bengaluru | March 11, 2026:
Several hotels and small eateries across Bengaluru may suspend operations in the coming days due to an alleged disruption in the supply of commercial LPG cylinders, according to the Bangalore Hotels Association.

The association has warned that many restaurants, darshinis, and small hotels in the city could remain closed if the supply of commercial cooking gas is not restored immediately. Hotel owners say the sudden halt in LPG supply has created significant operational difficulties for the hospitality sector.

According to representatives of the association, oil companies had earlier assured that there would be no disruption in the supply of commercial LPG cylinders for at least 70 days. However, the unexpected stoppage has left several establishments struggling to continue daily operations.

Hotel owners stressed that the food service sector plays a crucial role in the daily lives of thousands of residents, including students, senior citizens, office workers, and migrant labourers who depend on affordable meals from darshinis and small restaurants.

“The hotel industry provides an essential service to the public. Any disruption in cooking gas supply directly affects the availability of food for many people who rely on us every day,” a representative of the association said.

The Bangalore Hotels Association has urged the Union government and concerned authorities to intervene urgently and ensure the immediate restoration of commercial LPG supplies. Industry representatives warned that if the issue is not resolved quickly, many eateries may be forced to remain shut until the supply returns to normal.

Residents in Bengaluru, known for its vibrant darshini culture and affordable South Indian meals such as idli, dose, and coffee, may therefore face temporary inconvenience as several outlets could keep their shutters down until the situation improves.
