Mithun Chakraborty Asked Son Namashi to Avoid Luxury, Travel by Auto for Auditions

Mumbai: Veteran Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty once strictly instructed his son Namashi Chakraborty not to travel in a luxury car like a Mercedes for auditions, asking him instead to take an auto-rickshaw. The decision, Mithun explained, was meant to ensure that Namashi understood struggle and began his career “from zero.”

Namashi recently recalled the incident during an interview, sharing that when he was called for his first audition, he planned to go in the family’s Mercedes. However, his father stopped him and told him clearly that he should not use privilege or status to gain an advantage in the industry.

“Mithun da wanted me to experience the reality of the industry,” Namashi said, adding that his father believed true growth comes from humility, discipline, and self-reliance. Mithun reportedly told his son that he himself had started his journey with nothing and wanted Namashi to follow the same path.

The young actor said that traveling by auto and standing in audition lines like everyone else helped him understand the struggles faced by newcomers. He also revealed that he disliked receiving special treatment because of his famous surname and preferred to be judged purely on talent.

Namashi further shared that whenever casting teams recognized him as Mithun Chakraborty’s son, they often tried to offer him extra comfort or priority. However, he chose to avoid such privileges, believing that roles should be earned through performance, not background.

The actor emphasized that his father’s strict approach played a key role in shaping his mindset and work ethic. According to Namashi, Mithun Chakraborty wanted him to succeed on his own merit rather than rely on family legacy.

The story has resonated widely on social media, with many praising Mithun Chakraborty’s grounded values and his stance against entitlement in the film industry.
