Jaishankar Meets Seychelles President Patrick Herminie in Delhi, Reaffirms Maritime Cooperation
New Delhi: External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar on Tuesday met President Dr. Patrick Herminie of the Republic of Seychelles in New Delhi, reaffirming India’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with its maritime neighbours.
Describing Seychelles as an important partner in the Indian Ocean region, Dr. Jaishankar said India values President Herminie’s support for advancing the Vision MAHASAGAR, which focuses on economic prosperity, maritime security, and regional stability.
“As maritime neighbours, we highly value Seychelles’ support towards advancing Vision MAHASAGAR for shared economic growth and security in the region,” Dr. Jaishankar stated.
The External Affairs Minister also expressed confidence that President Herminie’s engagements with Prime Minister Narendra Modi later in the day would open new avenues for bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors, including maritime security, development partnership, and regional connectivity.
India and Seychelles share long-standing ties rooted in shared maritime interests, people-to-people connections, and cooperation in defence and development. The meeting comes amid India’s continued outreach to strengthen partnerships in the Indian Ocean Region.
