CM M.K. Stalin Says He Faced Unprecedented Pressure From Governor

Tamil Nadu: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Saturday said that he has been facing extraordinary pressure from the Governor, claiming that such a situation was never experienced even by former Chief Ministers C.N. Annadurai, M. Karunanidhi, and J. Jayalalithaa.
Speaking on the floor of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, the Chief Minister alleged that the actions of the Governor have crossed constitutional limits and created an unprecedented situation in the State. Stalin stated that the level of interference and pressure from the Raj Bhavan was something unheard of in Tamil Nadu’s political history.
“The pressure I am facing today from the Governor is something that even leaders like Anna, Kalaignar, and Jayalalithaa did not face during their tenures,” Stalin said, highlighting the seriousness of the issue.
The Chief Minister also accused the Governor of disregarding established constitutional conventions. Referring to recent events in the Assembly, Stalin said the Governor’s conduct had hurt democratic traditions and compelled the elected government to raise the matter publicly.
Stalin further asserted that Tamil Nadu does not need lessons on patriotism or constitutional values. “Tamil Nadu has always upheld the Constitution and democratic principles. No one needs to teach us patriotism,” he remarked.
The remarks come amid ongoing tensions between the State government and the Governor over several administrative and legislative matters. The issue has sparked political debate across the State, with ruling party leaders backing the Chief Minister and opposition parties closely watching developments.
The confrontation between the elected government and the Governor has once again brought the discussion on constitutional roles and limits into the national spotlight.
