Awareness Programme Held at Nanjappa Institute of Nursing Science on Police Commemoration Day

Shivamogga: On 21-02-2026, as part of Police Commemoration Day, the Shivamogga District Police visited the Nanjappa Institute of Nursing Science in Shivamogga city and conducted an awareness programme for students.

During the session, police officials addressed the gathering and provided detailed information on the harmful effects of drug abuse, the significance of the POCSO Act, and the importance of cyber safety. Students were advised to stay away from substance abuse and to become responsible citizens with a clear understanding of the law.

Officials also explained the legal provisions under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and urged students to immediately report any incidents of harassment or misconduct to the police. In addition, guidance was given on safe usage of social media, safeguarding personal information, and protecting oneself from cybercrime.

Students actively participated in the interactive session, raising queries and seeking clarifications. The police department stated that such awareness initiatives will continue with the objective of promoting public safety and legal awareness among youth.
