🏫 Karnataka Human Rights Committee’s Srinivasa Gowda Flags Unsafe School Conditions, Demands Immediate Repairs

Hind Samachar News Desk | Bagalkot | March 2026:

Bagalkot: The alarming condition of a government junior primary school in Teggi Tanda village of Bilagi taluk has drawn strong attention from the Karnataka Human Rights Committee, with State President Srinivasa Gowda demanding urgent intervention to ensure student safety.

The school, which accommodates around 100 students, is currently operating with four classrooms whose roofs are reportedly in a severely deteriorated condition. With the monsoon season fast approaching, concerns are rising over the possibility of the structure collapsing, posing a serious risk to the children.

Despite repeated appeals by teachers and local residents to concerned authorities, no corrective measures have been taken so far, prompting public outrage and concern.

Taking note of the issue, Srinivasa Gowda intervened and held discussions with officials of Bilagi taluk, directing them to initiate immediate repair work. Following this, the local PDO has assured that necessary repairs will commence shortly.

Issuing a stern warning, Gowda stated that any untoward incident resulting from negligence would make the concerned officials directly accountable. He further warned that failure to address the issue promptly would lead to a formal complaint being lodged with the state’s School Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa.

Meanwhile, committee members Sunil Rathod, Nanda Chauhan, Shantamma, and Yamunamma visited the school, assessed the situation on the ground, and submitted a detailed report along with photographic evidence.

The Karnataka Human Rights Committee has urged authorities to act without delay and prioritize the safety and well-being of school children.
