Woman Arrested for Stealing Gold Jewellery Worth ₹18 Lakh from Wedding Halls

Police in Shivamogga have arrested a woman accused of stealing gold jewellery worth approximately ₹18 lakh from wedding halls across the city, bringing relief to residents after several incidents had created panic among families attending marriage functions.

According to police officials, the accused allegedly attended wedding ceremonies disguised in a burqa and mingled with guests. Taking advantage of the crowded environment during the celebrations, she reportedly stole jewellery and other valuables belonging to guests.

Authorities said the thefts had been reported from multiple wedding venues in recent weeks, prompting the police to intensify surveillance and investigation. Based on CCTV footage and other leads, officers were able to identify and track down the suspect.

The woman was eventually arrested, and police have recovered a portion of the stolen jewellery during the investigation. Officials are now verifying whether the accused was involved in similar theft cases reported earlier.

Police have advised the public to remain vigilant during large gatherings and to keep valuables secure, especially during wedding functions and other crowded events. Further investigation into the case is currently underway.
