UAE on High Alert Amid Missile and Drone Threats
Abu Dhabi/Dubai – March 9, 2026:
Amid rising tensions in the Iran–US–Israel conflict, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has activated its air defence systems and armed forces in response to ongoing missile and drone threats, officials confirmed today.
According to the Ministry of Defence, air defence units are actively intercepting incoming ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), neutralising most threats before they can reach civilian areas or critical infrastructure. Residents reported hearing loud sounds from air defence operations as the country’s systems work to secure the skies.
Authorities have urged citizens and visitors to remain in safe locations and follow updates from official channels, emphasizing that the heightened alert is necessary to protect national security and civilian life.
The UAE Defence Ministry stated that its forces are on high alert and fully prepared to counter any aggression, taking all measures to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty and stability. This step comes in response to the escalating regional threats affecting neighbouring Gulf countries, highlighting the importance of readiness in the region.
Officials said further updates and safety guidance will be provided to residents as the situation continues to evolve.
