Washington: Donald Trump has claimed that Iran may agree to hand over enriched uranium that could potentially be used for nuclear weapons, signaling possible progress in ongoing negotiations between the two countries.
Speaking at the White House, Trump stated that discussions between the US and Iran are “very successful,” adding that there is a strong chance of reaching a peace agreement soon. He also suggested that a successful deal could ensure free oil flow and stability in the Strait of Hormuz.
However, recent marathon talks held in Islamabad failed to produce a final agreement. The US has proposed a 20-year freeze on Iran’s uranium enrichment, while Iran is reportedly willing to accept only a five-year limit.
US Vice President JD Vance emphasized that any agreement would depend on meeting America’s key “red lines” regarding Iran’s nuclear program.
