Thousands Stranded in Abu Dhabi Amid Middle East Airspace Closures; UAE Extends Support
Abu Dhabi – Widespread airspace closures and flight cancellations across the Middle East following the ongoing regional conflict have left thousands of passengers stranded in Abu Dhabi.
According to local authorities, the UAE Government intervened swiftly to assist affected travelers in the capital. Officials confirmed that approximately 20,000 passengers were provided with hotel accommodation and meals while awaiting the resumption of flight operations.
In an effort to ease the burden on stranded passengers, hotels across the city were instructed to extend guest stays and bill the tourism department directly. This measure ensured that travelers did not face additional financial costs during the disruption.
Authorities stated that the coordinated response was aimed at safeguarding passenger welfare and efficiently managing the situation until normal flight schedules are restored.
The large-scale travel disruption highlights the broader impact of regional tensions on international aviation, with several carriers temporarily suspending or rerouting flights for safety reasons.
Officials continue to monitor the situation closely, assuring that further assistance will be provided if required until air traffic operations fully normalize.
