Qatar Gas Disruption Raises Concerns for Indian Industries

New Delhi | March 5, 2026:

Indian industries are facing concerns over natural gas supply after Qatar reportedly disrupted part of its liquefied natural gas (LNG) production amid rising regional tensions in West Asia. The development could affect sectors such as fertilizers, power generation, and petrochemicals that rely heavily on imported gas.

Following the reports, shares of Petronet LNG fell sharply, reflecting market worries about possible supply shortages. Officials in New Delhi said the government is closely monitoring the situation and exploring alternative sources to ensure steady energy supplies.

Experts warn that prolonged disruption from Qatar could increase costs for industries, though India is expected to manage the impact through diversified energy imports.
