In a significant development to the earlier reported dispute at Muthoot Mini Corp branch near Indira Gandhi Circle in Shivamogga, the missing gold ornament belonging to a customer has now been traced and returned, bringing relief to the aggrieved party.

The customer, Basavaraj, had pledged his gold with the finance company and later approached the branch to close his loan and retrieve his valuables. However, during the release process, he discovered that gold worth approximately ₹40,000 was missing. When he raised the issue, the branch initially maintained that all pledged items had already been returned, leaving him distressed and without a resolution.

The matter took a decisive turn when Pradeep Meethal, State Vice President of the Karnataka Human Rights Panel, intervened. Accompanied by Basavaraj, he visited the branch and engaged with the management regarding the complaint. Following discussions, the branch manager sought two days’ time to investigate the matter and assured that if the ornament was not found, he would personally compensate by providing a similar gold item.
After two days, Pradeep Meethal, along with Pramila K R, revisited the branch. In a dramatic turnaround, the missing ornament was located. The branch manager clarified that the item had been mistakenly placed in another customer’s gold packet and issued an apology for the error.
With the recovery and return of the ornament, the dispute was amicably resolved. However, Pradeep Meethal issued a stern warning to the branch management, stating that any recurrence of such negligence would invite strict legal action against the company.
The incident underscores the importance of transparency and accountability in gold loan transactions and serves as a reminder for customers to carefully verify their pledged valuables while dealing with financial institutions.
