PM Modi Reaffirms India’s Support for Palestine, Backs Gaza Peace Efforts
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday met Palestinian Foreign Minister Varsen Aghabekian and reiterated India’s long-standing and unwavering support for the people of Palestine, while welcoming ongoing international efforts aimed at restoring peace in the Gaza region.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi underlined India’s consistent position in favour of dialogue, diplomacy, and humanitarian assistance, emphasizing the need for an immediate cessation of violence and sustained peace initiatives. He expressed hope that current peace plans for Gaza would pave the way for stability and relief for civilians affected by the conflict.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed India’s commitment to supporting humanitarian needs in Palestine and highlighted New Delhi’s historical role as a steadfast partner in Palestine’s development and welfare. India has regularly extended aid in the areas of healthcare, education, and capacity-building for Palestinian institutions.
Foreign Minister Varsen Aghabekian appreciated India’s principled stance and thanked the Prime Minister for India’s continued diplomatic and humanitarian support. She also briefed PM Modi on the prevailing situation in Gaza and ongoing international peace efforts.
India has consistently advocated a two-state solution, calling for peaceful coexistence between Israel and Palestine, based on dialogue and mutual respect. The meeting reflects India’s balanced and constructive approach towards peace in West Asia, even amid rising regional tensions.
