Open Networks, DPI Key to Scaling AI at India AI Impact Summit 2026
New Delhi: An expert-level discussion on the transformative role of Open Networks and Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) in scaling Artificial Intelligence (AI) was held at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi.
According to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the session highlighted how India’s unique digital approach—built on consent-based data systems, interoperable platforms, and open participation—has laid a strong foundation for deploying AI solutions at population scale.
Experts at the summit emphasized that the future trajectory of AI will not be defined solely by breakthroughs in advanced models, but by the strength of digital public infrastructure and open network architectures that enable innovation to reach millions. They noted that India’s Digital Public Infrastructure framework has already demonstrated how scalable and inclusive systems can drive widespread adoption of technology.
The discussion underlined that open networks and DPI together form the institutional and technological backbone necessary to transition AI from pilot projects to nationwide implementation. Speakers pointed out that such frameworks ensure trust, transparency, and accessibility, which are essential for sustainable AI growth.
Leaders at the summit also called for the development of affordable, easy-to-use, and multilingual AI systems to ensure broader access across diverse communities. They stressed that inclusive AI, supported by robust digital infrastructure, will be critical in empowering citizens and accelerating India’s digital transformation journey.
The session concluded with a strong consensus that India’s model of open, interoperable, and citizen-centric digital systems could serve as a global template for scaling AI responsibly and effectively.
