New Vande Bharat Train Planned Between Bengaluru and Mangaluru to Boost Regional Connectivity
In a major push to strengthen regional connectivity in Karnataka, Indian Railways is planning to introduce a new Vande Bharat Express service between Bengaluru and Mangaluru. The proposed semi-high-speed train is expected to significantly reduce travel time and enhance passenger convenience along the busy corridor.
According to railway sources, the new Vande Bharat service is currently in the planning stage and is likely to be introduced after necessary safety clearances and operational approvals are obtained. The route, which connects the state capital Bengaluru with the coastal city of Mangaluru, is considered strategically important for business, tourism, and educational travel.
At present, several express and passenger trains operate on this route, which passes through the scenic Western Ghats. However, travel time remains relatively long due to terrain constraints. The introduction of a Vande Bharat Express is expected to offer faster, more comfortable, and modern travel options for commuters.
Officials indicated that infrastructure readiness, track conditions, and safety evaluations will play a crucial role before the final launch decision is made. Necessary inspections and technical assessments are expected to be carried out to ensure smooth and secure operations, particularly on ghat sections.
The proposed service is likely to benefit daily commuters, students, tourists, and business travelers, while also strengthening economic ties between the coastal and inland regions of Karnataka.
If approved, this will further expand the network of Vande Bharat trains in the southern region, reflecting Indian Railways’ continued focus on modernization and improved passenger experience.
Further announcements regarding the schedule, stoppages, and launch timeline are awaited.
