KSRTC Introduces Vintage-Style Bus for Tourism in Thiruvananthapuram
Thiruvananthapuram | March 13, 2026:
The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has introduced a special vintage-style bus for tourism services in Thiruvananthapuram, recreating the design of classic city buses that operated in the capital during the 1960s.
The heritage bus, designed in the style of 1965-era public transport vehicles, was built at KSRTC’s Central Works facility in Pappanamcode. Officials said the project aims to revive the nostalgic charm of the city’s old-style buses while promoting tourism in the state capital.
The inaugural run of the vintage bus is scheduled from Kowdiar to Thampanoor. Kerala Transport Minister K. B. Ganesh Kumar will drive the bus during the launch event, marking the beginning of the heritage ride service.
According to KSRTC officials, the bus will mainly operate for tourism experiences, offering visitors and residents a chance to travel in a vehicle styled after the iconic buses that once served the city decades ago. The initiative is also expected to attract transport enthusiasts and tourists interested in Kerala’s transport heritage.
The introduction of the vintage bus is part of efforts to promote cultural tourism in the state and showcase the history of public transport in Kerala.
