Jammu and Kashmir Ranks Second in Export Preparedness Index 2024
Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir has achieved a major milestone in its export development journey by securing the second rank among Small States, Northeastern States and Union Territories in the Export Preparedness Index (EPI) 2024, released by NITI Aayog.
According to a report filed by Akashvani Jammu Correspondent, the Union Territory scored an impressive 51.08 points and has been categorised as a “Leader” under the EPI 2024 classification. This marks a remarkable improvement for Jammu and Kashmir, which has jumped from 17th rank in EPI 2022 to 2nd position in EPI 2024.
The sharp upward movement reflects focused, consistent and outcome-oriented efforts by the administration to strengthen the export ecosystem across the Union Territory. The Export Preparedness Index is a comprehensive, data-driven framework that evaluates the export readiness of States and UTs across key pillars such as policy environment, business ecosystem, export ecosystem and export performance.
Jammu and Kashmir’s strong performance highlights the success of several targeted interventions, including the preparation of district export plans, promotion of the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative, exporter outreach and capacity-building programmes, strengthening of institutional mechanisms, and enhanced facilitation measures for exporters.
Officials said the achievement underscores the growing competitiveness of Jammu and Kashmir in the national export landscape. The Union Territory remains committed to further improving its export preparedness and leveraging its unique strengths to expand its presence in both national and global markets.
