India, Germany Sign Joint Declaration to Boost Telecom and ICT Cooperation
India and Germany have signed a Joint Declaration of Intent (JDI) aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in the fields of telecommunications and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).
The announcement was made by the Ministry of Communications, which stated that both nations have agreed to enhance collaboration through the regular exchange of information and best practices, promotion of partnerships in emerging and future technologies, and joint initiatives in policy and regulatory frameworks, manufacturing, and ease of doing business in the telecom and ICT sectors.
The Declaration was signed during the official visit of German Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz to India from 12 to 13 of this month. The visit underscored the growing strategic partnership between Germany and India, particularly in the digital domain.
According to officials, the cooperation supports the shared objective of inclusive and sustainable digital transformation and reflects the commitment of both countries to deepen bilateral engagement in telecommunications and ICT. The agreement builds on the strong momentum in India–Germany relations and sustained high-level interactions between the two governments.
