India has permitted the Iranian naval vessel IRIS Lavan to dock at Kochi port, extending humanitarian assistance to the ship and its crew during a tense period in the region.

According to official sources, the request from Iran was approved on humanitarian grounds. The vessel was allowed to anchor at Kochi to ensure the safety and well-being of its sailors amid rising tensions in the Middle East.

India’s External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar stated that assisting the ship and its crew was “the right thing to do,” highlighting India’s commitment to humanitarian principles and responsible diplomacy.

Iranian authorities have expressed gratitude to India for the support extended to the vessel IRIS Lavan, acknowledging the timely assistance provided to its naval personnel.
