Governance Must Blend Development with Heritage: Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan

Tumakuru (Karnataka): Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan on Tuesday emphasised the need for a governance model that respects India’s civilisational roots, values its rich heritage and culture, and simultaneously ensures inclusive development.
Addressing the Seventh Commemoration Day of Sree Shivakumara Mahaswamy at Sree Siddaganga Mutt, the Vice President said that India’s progress must be rooted in its timeless values and spiritual traditions. The event was held in Tumakuru district of Karnataka.
C.P. Radhakrishnan said that Narendra Modi has successfully harmonised Vikas (development) with Virasat (heritage), creating a balanced approach to governance. He noted that under this vision, people are advancing materially while remaining spiritually anchored.
“The strength of India lies in its civilisation, culture, and moral values. Development should not come at the cost of our heritage, but should be guided by it,” the Vice President said.
He also paid rich tributes to Sree Shivakumara Mahaswamy, recalling his immense contribution to education, social reform, and service to humanity. The Vice President said the life and teachings of the revered seer continue to inspire generations to work for social harmony and inclusive growth.
The programme was attended by religious leaders, public representatives, and devotees, who remembered the legacy of Sree Shivakumara Mahaswamy and his lifelong commitment to selfless service.
