“Depart Now” Advisory Issued for Americans in Middle East

Washington | March 3, 2026:

The United States Department of State has issued a strong advisory urging American citizens to immediately leave more than a dozen Middle Eastern countries as regional tensions continue to escalate following joint U.S.–Israeli military strikes on Iran.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio warned that the security situation across parts of the Middle East has become increasingly volatile, with the potential for sudden violence, missile strikes, and disruptions to air travel.

Heightened Security Concerns
According to official statements, the advisory applies to several countries across the Gulf and surrounding regions where American diplomatic missions have either reduced staff or strengthened security protocols. U.S. embassies in key locations have also issued “shelter-in-place” alerts and emergency guidance to citizens.

Officials cited risks including retaliatory attacks, civil unrest, and possible targeting of Western interests as reasons behind the urgent warning.

Impact on Travel and Diplomacy
Airlines operating in the region have faced disruptions due to airspace restrictions and security concerns. Some flights have been delayed or suspended as governments reassess safety conditions.
The advisory marks one of the strongest travel warnings issued in recent years and underscores Washington’s concern about the widening scope of the Iran–U.S.–Israel confrontation.

Regional Uncertainty
The conflict has triggered retaliatory missile and drone exchanges, raising fears that hostilities could spread beyond immediate battle zones. Analysts warn that American nationals, businesses, and diplomatic facilities may face heightened risk if tensions continue to intensify.

The State Department has urged U.S. citizens who are unable to depart immediately to exercise extreme caution, avoid large gatherings, and closely monitor official updates.
