Delhi Police Issues Traffic Advisory for Smooth Republic Day Celebrations
New Delhi: Ahead of the grand 77th Republic Day Parade, Delhi Police has issued a detailed traffic advisory to ensure the smooth conduct of the ceremonial parade and associated cultural events in the national capital.
The Republic Day Parade will follow its traditional route from Vijay Chowk to the Red Fort, for which elaborate traffic arrangements have been put in place. Delhi Police has advised commuters to plan their journeys in advance and avoid Central Delhi during restricted hours. Residents have also been informed about route-restricted zones and alternate routes that have been arranged in view of the celebrations.
According to the advisory, traffic restrictions, which came into force last night, will remain in place throughout the parade today. Kartavya Path will remain closed for traffic until the conclusion of the parade. No crossing will be allowed on Kartavya Path between Vijay Chowk and India Gate till 2 PM. In addition, the C-Hexagon near India Gate will remain closed to traffic from 9:15 AM onwards.
Traffic on Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and Netaji Subhash Marg will be diverted from 10:30 AM onwards. Delhi Police has further urged commuters to avoid the parade route and nearby areas unless travel is absolutely essential, and to cooperate with traffic personnel deployed on duty.
To facilitate easy movement for citizens wishing to witness the Republic Day celebrations, Delhi Metro started its services at 3 AM today on all lines. Metro trains are operating at 15-minute intervals till 6 AM, after which the regular timetable will be followed for the rest of the day. Delhi Metro has encouraged passengers to plan their travel accordingly and make use of the early services to avoid last-minute inconvenience.
The traffic and transport arrangements are aimed at ensuring safety, security and smooth movement during one of the nation’s most significant ceremonial events.
