BJP-Led Mahayuti Sweeps Maharashtra Zilla Parishad Polls, Wins 552 Seats

Mumbai, February 11: The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance has registered a resounding victory in the Maharashtra Zilla Parishad elections, securing 552 out of the 731 seats for which results were declared by the State Election Commission yesterday.
Within the ruling coalition, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the single largest party, winning 225 seats. The Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) followed with 165 seats, while the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena secured 162 seats, consolidating the alliance’s stronghold across the state.
In contrast, the Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) recorded a modest performance. The Congress managed to win 55 seats, the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) secured 43 seats, and the Sharad Pawar-led NCP (SP) won 26 seats. The remaining seats were won by Independents and smaller regional parties.
The BJP emerged as the dominant force in several key districts, including Sindhudurg, Satara, and Latur. Meanwhile, the Ajit Pawar-led NCP established a strong presence in the Pune Zilla Parishad.
The counting process was conducted for 12 Zilla Parishads, with results of 125 Panchayat Samitis also declared on the same day.
The sweeping victory is being viewed as a major political boost for the Mahayuti alliance ahead of future electoral battles in the state.
