Bangarappa Road Nameplate to be Unveiled in Shivamogga on March 14

Shivamogga: The Shivamogga City Corporation will hold a program on March 14 to name a major road in the city after former Chief Minister S. Bangarappa.
The Government of Karnataka has already issued a notification to name the 100-foot wide dual carriage road stretching from Alkola Circle to DVG Circle in Gopalagowda Layout after S. Bangarappa. As part of this decision, the nameplate unveiling ceremony will be held in Gopalagowda Layout on March 14 at 11:30 a.m.

Known as a pro-people leader who worked for the welfare of the poor, S. Bangarappa introduced several public welfare schemes during his tenure, including the Ashraya housing scheme and free electricity for farmers. He also supported the Bagair Hukum movement in Shivamogga district, which helped thousands of families obtain land ownership rights.
He also played a significant role in the development of McGann Hospital, an important medical center serving the Malnad and Central Karnataka regions. The foundation for the Tunga lift irrigation project and the Upper Tunga project was laid during his administration. He also played a key role in bringing drinking water to Shivamogga city from the Gajanur Dam.
District in-charge minister Madhu Bangarappa, along with MLAs, MPs, and several dignitaries, will participate in the nameplate unveiling ceremony.
