US Reduces Tariff on Made in India Products to 18%; PM Modi Calls Talks with President Trump Productive
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a significant reduction in United States tariffs on Made in India products, with the rate now lowered to 18 per cent. The announcement was made through a social media post following a conversation between Prime Minister Modi and US President Donald Trump.
In his post, the Prime Minister said it was “wonderful to speak” with his “dear friend” President Trump. He подчеркed that when two large economies and the world’s largest democracies work together, it brings benefits to people and unlocks immense opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation.
Confirming the development, US President Donald Trump also shared details of the agreement on social media, stating that the United States’ relationship with India will grow even stronger in the coming years. He announced that both countries have agreed to a Trade Deal, under which the US will impose a reduced Reciprocal Tariff, bringing it down from 25 per cent to 18 per cent on Indian products.
President Trump described Prime Minister Modi as “one of my greatest friends” and a powerful and respected leader of India. He further said that both leaders are results-oriented and capable of getting things done, adding that such cooperation reflects the strength of India–US ties.
The tariff reduction is expected to boost Indian exports to the United States and further strengthen bilateral trade relations between the two countries.
