🏅 Senior Journalist Mahesh Hegde Honoured with KUWJ Annual Award 2024

Sagara: In a proud moment for journalism in Shivamogga district, senior journalist Mahesh Hegde from Sagara has been selected for the prestigious Karnataka Working Journalists’ Union (KUWJ) Annual Award for 2024, recognising his outstanding contribution to investigative journalism and public-interest reporting.
Mahesh Hegde, who serves as a correspondent for Samyukta Karnataka, has been chosen for the “Abhimani Prakashana Award” under the comprehensive category of KUWJ awards. The honour acknowledges his long-standing dedication, professional integrity, and impactful reporting that has brought key public issues to light.
Over the years, Hegde has earned recognition for his strong investigative reporting, particularly a series of reports exposing alleged illegal land encroachment through fabricated documents in Sagara taluk. These reports created significant public awareness and reportedly prompted further scrutiny, including attention from the Lokayukta authorities.
With a journalism career spanning over 27 years, Mahesh Hegde has consistently demonstrated commitment to ethical reporting and social responsibility. His work has not only informed the public but also contributed to accountability in governance, earning appreciation from both readers and experts in the field.
🎤 Award Ceremony in Bidar
The award will be formally presented during the KUWJ State Conference scheduled on April 11 and 12 in Bidar. The ceremony is expected to be attended by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar, among other dignitaries, according to KUWJ State President Shivanand Tagadur and General Secretary G.C. Lokesh.
