⚡ Power Tariff Likely to Rise Again in Karnataka from April

Hind Samachar News Desk | Bengaluru | March 2026:

Karnataka is likely to witness another electricity tariff hike of 35–45 paise per unit for commercial and industrial consumers starting April 2026, according to sources in the power sector.

The proposed increase comes shortly after a recent tariff revision in March, reflecting the mounting financial pressure on power supply companies. Officials indicate that the hike is primarily driven by a significant revenue gap of nearly ₹5,000 crore, which has impacted the operational stability of electricity distribution companies across the state.

Energy experts note that rising fuel costs, infrastructure expenses, and subsidy burdens have contributed to the growing deficit. The latest revision aims to bridge this gap while ensuring uninterrupted power supply to industries and commercial establishments.

While the move is expected to help power companies recover losses, it may also increase operational costs for businesses, potentially affecting pricing across various sectors.

Consumers and industry stakeholders are closely monitoring the situation, as final approval and implementation details are expected to be announced soon by the concerned authorities.
