Allegation of CL-2 Licence Violation in Shivamogga: Public Complaint Against Ravi Wines

Shivamogga: Some serious allegations have been raised by members of the public regarding Ravi Wines and Chennambika Wines located in Shivamogga. Both wine shops reportedly hold CL-2 licences, under which alcohol can only be sold in parcel form as per the rules.

Consumption of alcohol by sitting and drinking at the premises is not permitted under this licence.
According to information shared by the public, Chennambika Wines has not arranged any facility for people to drink outside the shop. However, it is alleged that a nearby space belonging to Ravi Wines has been leased to a hotel for a monthly rent of around ₹30,000.

It is further alleged that this space is being used for people to sit and consume alcohol, effectively operating in a manner similar to a bar. Members of the public claim that this is a violation of CL-2 licence rules, since such licences allow only parcel sales, while facilities for sitting and drinking are permitted only for establishments that possess a bar licence.

In this regard, the public has urged the Excise Department and the Police Department to seriously examine the matter and take appropriate action. On behalf of the public, this complaint has been brought to the attention of the concerned authorities through Hind Samachar News.
