Iran Warns Strait of Hormuz Will Remain Closed
New Delhi | March 13, 2026:
Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has said the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed to pressure the United States and Israel, signaling a further escalation in the ongoing West Asia crisis.
The Strait is a vital global oil shipping route, and the warning has already impacted energy markets. Brent crude prices surged above $100 per barrel amid fears of supply disruptions.
Experts say any prolonged closure could disrupt global oil supply, shipping, and trade, raising concerns for major energy-importing countries including India.
