Bengaluru’s First Double-Decker Flyover at Silk Board Nears Completion, Set to Open by End of February
Bengaluru: Bengaluru’s first-ever double-decker flyover at the heavily congested Silk Board Junction, connecting HSR Layout with BTM Layout, has entered its final stage of construction and is expected to be fully operational by the end of February, according to officials.
The long-awaited infrastructure project had faced delays in recent months, primarily due to the complex installation of a large steel girder. Authorities, however, have confirmed that the critical work has now been completed and only finishing touches remain.
Once opened to the public, the double-decker flyover is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion at Silk Board Junction, which is widely regarded as one of Bengaluru’s worst traffic bottlenecks. The new structure will allow vehicles to bypass the junction, ensuring smoother traffic flow on some of the busiest routes in South Bengaluru.
Traffic officials believe the flyover will reduce travel time for daily commuters and improve connectivity between key residential and commercial areas, including HSR Layout, BTM Layout, and surrounding corridors.
The project forms a crucial part of the city’s broader efforts to upgrade urban infrastructure and address long-standing traffic challenges. Commuters have welcomed the development, expressing hope that the flyover will bring much-needed relief to one of Bengaluru’s most congested intersections.
With completion now in sight, authorities are preparing for final inspections ahead of its scheduled opening later this month.
