Discussions Held to Transform Thiruvananthapuram into Global Maritime Hub – Rajeev Chandrashekar

Thiruvananthapuram: Rajeev Chandrashekar held detailed discussions with Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal ji, on fully leveraging the vast potential of the Vizhinjam International Seaport to transform Thiruvananthapuram into a global maritime hub.
During the meeting, both leaders reached a consensus on a clear and structured action plan aimed at positioning Thiruvananthapuram among India’s leading maritime cities. The discussions focused on maximizing port-led development, strengthening maritime infrastructure, and creating new economic and employment opportunities for the region.

Rajeev Chandrashekar highlighted that the Vizhinjam Port, with its strategic location and world-class capabilities, can play a transformative role in Kerala’s economic growth. He emphasized that this initiative aligns with the broader vision of Vikasita Thiruvananthapuram and Vikasita Keralam, contributing significantly to sustainable development and global connectivity.

The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to work closely with all stakeholders to ensure the timely and effective implementation of the action plan. “We are working tirelessly to turn this vision into reality,” Chandrashekar said, underlining the government’s resolve to make Thiruvananthapuram a major maritime and logistics hub on the global map.

The proposed developments are expected to boost trade, attract investments, and strengthen India’s position in the global maritime sector, while accelerating the overall development of Kerala.
