Mumbai – Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project Sees Steady Progress: Ashwini Vaishnaw Railways Minister

Ashwini Vaishnaw has said that the Mumbai–Ahmedabad Bullet Train project is witnessing steady progress, with the installation of Overhead Electrification (OHE) masts advancing along the high-speed rail corridor.
In a social media post, the minister highlighted that the ongoing electrification work marks a significant milestone in the project’s development. He noted that the installation of OHE masts is a crucial step towards enabling electric traction for India’s first high-speed rail system, which is expected to transform intercity travel between Maharashtra and Gujarat.

Mr Vaishnaw also underlined that the progress reflects consistent on-ground execution and effective coordination among implementing agencies. He added that the project aligns closely with the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, with a strong focus on indigenous manufacturing, technology transfer, and capacity building within the country.

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train is India’s flagship high-speed rail project and is being developed with Japanese Shinkansen technology. Once operational, the corridor is expected to significantly reduce travel time, boost regional economic development, and set new benchmarks for rail infrastructure in India.
Officials have reiterated that construction activities are progressing in phases across different sections of the corridor, and key infrastructure milestones are being achieved as per schedule.
